General Information

Scheduling (e.g., required/optional days of week, # hrs per day, total hours per week, flexibility in scheduling):
A minimum of two days per week time commitment is required for a total of 16 hours per week.

Required level of readiness (any prior experiences or level of training required for applicants):
The applicant should have at least one year of prior externship or practicum experience (i.e., for most applicants, they will be in the third or fourth year of graduate school).

Preferred level of readiness(any prior experiences preferred for applicants):
Third or fourth year of doctoral program.

  • Cover letter (Please indicate whether you are applying for a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Concentration or a Dialectical Behavior Therapy Concentration.)
  • CV
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • A de-identified case study
  • A letter from the head of your doctoral training program attesting to your good standing in the program and your readiness for practicum training. Please include your DCT's email address.

Description of Externship

Populations commonly served:

  • Young adults
  • Outpatient
  • Inpatient

Training models offered:

  • The Behavioral Health College Partnership will offer four externship positions with a concentration in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and two externship positions with a concentration in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Please specify on your application which training experience you are applying for.

Intervention training experiences commonly offered:

  • Individual Therapy
  • Group Therapy
