Scheduling (Group supervision Thursday at 11;45 AM for one hour. Seminars and Case Conference Fridays October through May from 11:30 to 2:30 Flexible scheduling for individual supervision and clinical work and phone screenings for the Trauma Program at NIP , these phone screenings require attendance at a group supervision in the Trauma Program typically held on Monday afternoons at 2:30.
Fridays required from 11:30 to 2:30 October through May, 2 days a week, 8 hrs per day, flexibility in scheduling_
Required level of readiness (any prior experiences or level of training required for applicants):
- _One year supervised dynamic psychotherapy experience in a psychology doctoral program
Preferred level of readiness(any prior experiences preferred for applicants):
- _entering third year of training.g., 3rd year_

Description of Externship
Populations commonly served:
We service a very diverse populations of adults and college students from all walks of life, ethnic groups and socio-economic levels.
screening of people with acute and chronic trauma.
Training models offered:

- Individual Psychotherapy
- couples therapy with couples supervision
phone screenings for Trauma Program supervision on identifying and classifying trauma
Expected number of cases seen at any one time: 5 cases are the expected caseload, some may be seen twice weekly."

==Other Comments: The National Institute for the Psychotherapies has offered this externship since 1996. Externs receive both individual and group supervision from highly experienced psychoanalysts. They may participate in the many colloquia, conferences and forums offered under the auspices of NIP. We are integrated with the Trauma Program at NIP which affords externs the opportunity to attend seminars on trauma, view video tapes of EMDR work and screen potential patients for the Trauma Program.
