Previous experience with psychological evaluation or populations diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) preferred

Description of Externship

Populations commonly served:

Children (some, but not primary area of service focus)
Adolescents (some, but not primary area of service focus)
Adults (primary population of service delivery)
Ethnic Minorities
Developmental Disabilities
Individuals diagnosed with ASD and related conditions
Individuals diagnosed with ASD and co-occurring mental health conditions

If any of these populations are only available to students under certain circumstances, please indicate:

Adult services are the primary of focus of psychotherapy service population. While occasional child/adolescent cases are available to externs, this cannot be guaranteed during the course of the training year. Spectrum Services was initiated in efforts to support young adults and adults who are aging out of the "traditional" services available, and this is the primary area of need met within this setting.

Individual Psychotherapy
Group Therapy
Support Group Services
Integrative Psychotherapy approaches including: CBT, Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and other Integrative approaches

Group service delivery opportunities are contingent upon days present for externship

Expected number of cases seen at any one time:

6-8 individual therapy cases, plus group services

Neuropsychological Testing
Psychoeducational Assessment
Assessment Report Writing
Personality/Psychopathology Assessment
Mental Status Exam

Primary focus of externship is upon psychotherapy services with evaluation services secondary in emphasis of training experience

Expected number of full assessment batteries completed during externship (defined as administration of a battery of standardized tests):

Approx 4-8 full batteries contingent upon prior experience
