Provide description of Externship:
The Bedford Clinic at Brightpoint Health is an Article 31 Outpatient mental health clinic. Brightpoint Health is a city-wide Federally Qualified Health Center, providing primary, specialty, and mental health care to people, families and communities challenged by health disparities caused by poverty, discrimination and lack of access. The externship program is highly individualized as there is only one extern per year. Externs will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of individuals and families and gain in-depth understanding of the daily operations of a fast-paced, mental health clinic. Individuals interested in social justice and addressing health disparity are highly encouraged to apply.
Modality is primarily psychoanalytic/psychodynamic. Additionally, there is a weekly DBT group that extern will co-lead with supervisor. Opportunities to learn STAIR-NST, TF-CBT, and transference focused psychotherapy for personality disorders will be available.

Intervention and Assessment:

Describe direct supervision: Supervisory style is individually tailored to the need of the trainee. It will be one-on-one weekly.
