Provide description of Externship:
The Center for Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy is a group practice located in midtown Manhattan that serves a diverse array of patients on an outpatient basis. The majority of patients are adults with some sub-classification of anxiety disorders, but many clinical presentations are seen. The Staff at the Center (ranging between 18 to 21 therapists) are made up of Master level interns, 3 to 4 pre-doctoral externs, occasionally 1 clinical intern, 2 to 4 post-doctoral fellows, and 4 to 8 licensed psychologists. The majority of the senior staff are compremised from persons who started their training at the Center as pre-doctoral interns.
Dr. Steven Phillipson, the Center's Clinical ector, has a very specific clinical specialty working with obsessive-compulsive disorder; therefore many of the anxiety-disordered clientele will have this diagnosis. Dr. Phillipson also specializes in the treatment of sexual dysfunctions and depression. Dr. Marcus, the Center's Administrative ector, specializes in treating patients with relationship issues and medical issues including diabetes, chronic pain, and eating disorders. She maintains a certification in diabetes education (C.D.E.) and works extensively with the issues related to living with diabetes.

Intervention and Assessment:
Intervention training experiences offered: Estimate average number of individual patients that students will carry; estimate number of groups and other types of interventions. Offer description: Generally externs carry a caseload up to but usually not exceeding 12 patients. Each Extern will be offered a position as a co-facilitator in one of 4 OCD groups.
Assessment training experiences commonly offered. Describe: Assessment involves conducting usually a 4 to 5 session intake process. this is to establish presenting problem, Axis I and Axis II diagnosis.

Estimated informal open door "curbside" supervision: there are two Directors at the Center and generally 5 licensed staff who are always available for impromptu guidance and supervision
Describe direct supervision: Cases are presented which the student finds challenging. There is a collaborative exchange of ideas as a general style of supervision. therapy skill are offered to facilitate the clinical acumen of the extern.
