Provide description of Externship:

Externs at the CSI Counseling Center are offered the opportunity to work with college students from diverse backgrounds with varying mental health needs. Our clients have diagnoses that span the DSM-V. 

Externs will provide individual, group, and couples counseling. Externs will also provide crisis intervention for student that present with immediate needs. We provide intensive supervision by licensed psychologists and social workers. 

Externs are also afforded opportunities to provide psychoeducational programming.

Our environment is warm, friendly, egalitarian, and collegial.

We are able to provide externs with 16 or more hours per week

The CSI Counselling Center offeres a wide range of services to students enrolled at the college. Our Counseling Center is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Centers (IACS).

We provide short and long-term counseling in various formats - individual, couples, and groups. 

We have a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who provides medication services to our clients.

The campus is expansive with green spaces. Parking is available on campus and there are many options for public transportation.

Minimum level of readiness (any prior experiences or level of training required for applicants: 2nd year doctoral students or higher. Prior experience with adult population desired.

Interviews:
When do you expect to begin interviews? (Applications can be submitted no earlier than Jan 22): soon after application deadline and then ongoing until positions are filled.
Interview process (provide information about interview process- time frame, how decisions are made) Also, do you conduct individual and/or group interviews; case presentation, other information?: Several staff members will meet to interview each candidate individually. Questions about prior experience and training goals are the main focus. No case presentation.

We provide therapy and supervision from an eclectic orientation with opportunities to learn specific theoretical orientation interventions.
