Interview process (provide information about interview process- time frame, how decisions are made) Also, do you conduct individual and/or group interviews; case presentation, other information?: Applicants will be offered an interview date and time. They will be interviewed by two people and given a tour of the facility. Offers will be made as outlined in the externship psych practicum guidelines.

Intervention and Assessment:
Externs will have the opportunity two work on two units. Units offering rotations for he externship in the program are the Admissions, Geriatric, Forensic and Developmentally Disabled Units. Externs will work on a unit alongside a licensed psychologist with 26 adult patients.
Externs will conduct individual sessions with patients as well as co-lead psychoeducational and /or progress groups.
Externs will have the opportunity to conduct functional assessments as well as personality, intellectual and dementia assessments. As the year progresses and based on the extern's level of clinical and assessment experience, they may also conduct forensic evaluations such as risk assessments.
It is expected that Externs will complete a minimum of three evaluations. One of those evaluation batteries must include projective testing. The Rorschach system utilized at GPPH is the Exner System.
All externs will receive one hour per week of individual and group supervision. They will also receive assessment supervision as well as additional individual mentoring supervision by interns enrolled in the APA-accredited internship program, who in turn receive supervision on their supervisory functions. Primary responsibility for supervision rests with the licensed psychologist.
They will receive didactics, grand rounds, and seminars throughout the externship program year and will have in-vivo supervision with their supervisors by co-leading groups and acting as part of a multidisciplinary team. Audio observation is available to students who wish who engage in such supervision.
