Long Island Jewish Medical Center Specialized Ambulatory Centers, Early Treatment Program (Psychosis) Externship Track

Provide description of Externship:

The Early Treatment Program Psychosis Track of the specialized Ambulatory Center’s Concentration utilizes the latest research to employ state of the art interventions for young adults who have recently become ill with a psychotic illness. Externs work as a part of our large and multi-disciplinary team implementing a recovery oriented approach to treatment.
Requirements: A minimum of two days per week time commitment is required, for a total of 16 hours per week. The extern in the psychotherapy track should be available on Tuesday evenings and Wednesday late afternoons. The assessment track extern should be available Wednesdays and Thursdays. Some flexibility possible with required days.

Intervention and Assessment:

Psychotherapy Concentration: 8 individual therapy cases, 2 cognitive remediation cases, co-lead young adult group

Assessment Concentration: 2-3 individual therapy cases, intake evaluations, neuropsychological evaluations
