How many hours a week are expected of extern?: Minumum 16 - Maximum 21; Full-day Friday is mandatory for all adult-track externs. Externs may select another full-day according to their schedules.

Minimum level of readiness (any prior experiences or level of training required for applicants: Candidates must have completed a minimum of one prior externship.
Preferences: 3rd and 4th year students preferred.
Do you provide a stipend? If so how much?: No stipend. However, externs are provided a $10.00 voucher per day for lunch.
When do you expect to begin interviews? (Applications can be submitted no earlier than Jan 22): Interviews will begin the week of January 28, 2019
Interview process (provide information about interview process- time frame, how decisions are made) Also, do you conduct individual and/or group interviews; case presentation, other information?: Interviewees will meet with a current Psychology Intern for a 1/2 hour informational session, followed by two 1/2 hour individual interviews with staff psychologists, one of whom will be the Externship Director.
What application materials are required (i.e., cv, transcript, how many reference letters, case summary, test report, other?: Application, C.V. , 2 letters of recommendation, integrated testing report (must include cognitive (WAIS/SB5 and Rorschach (preferably Exner) assessment/interpretation)
Intervention and Assessment:
Intervention training experiences offered: Estimate average number of individual patients that students will carry; estimate number of groups and other types of interventions. Offer description: Adult-Track externs will complete a 1/2 year placement in the adult inpatient psychiatric program, and will provide individual and group psychotherapy to patients on the unit. In addition, they will run a weekly year-long inpatient group. Externs will also treat 1-2 individual adult outpatients per week and run a year-long outpatient psychotherpy group. Externs will select a second 1/2 year elective placement from a list provided in the brochure.
Assessment training experiences commonly offered. Describe: Externs receive didactic training in Wechsler cognitive assessment and didactic training in personality/projective testing (TAT, Figure Drawings/Rorschach-Exner)
Expected number of full assessment batteries completed during externship (defined as administration of a battery of standardized tests): Externs will complete a minimum of one full battery during the course of their externship. Externs selecting Neuropsychological Assessment for their elective placement will complete 2-3 batteries.

Describe direct supervision: Externs will be observed providing individual therapy once per 1/2 year. Externs will be observed during their first WAIS administration.
Specify if observation occurs during intervention, assessment, consultation (audio, video, live in person (in treatment room, one-way mirror, live video stream): Psychotherpy is observed during a regularly scheduled session through 1-way mirror. WAIS is observed live during assessment session.
