Purchase College: Cornerstone Program/Office of Disability Resources

Provide description of Externship:

Externs will provide support to students participating in the Cornerstone Program, a fee-based program for students with an Autism Spectrum Disorder enrolled at Purchase College. Externs will maintain ongoing communication with a caseload of students, provide case management and disability-related coaching (i.e. self-advocacy, time-management, organization, social and academic skills, and independent living skills), and coordinate campus wide program events and social activities. Externs will also provide consultation with other offices and the campus to meet the needs for support, advocacy, and awareness of students with autism spectrum disorders, as well as assist in supervision of an undergraduate peer mentor program. Externs will collaborate with the Career Development Center and outside agencies to assist students in developing the necessary skills to obtain and maintain employment.
