Provide description of Externship:
Clinical care includes individual psychotherapy (including Dialectical Behavior Therapy - DBT and CBT), family therapy, group psychotherapy, behavior modification (based on Youth Empowerment Strategies –YES), and medication, when appropriate. The trainees who complete the program at RCPC will have first hand experience in treating patients with severe psychological pathology.

We do two individual interviews when possible. The prospective students will get an overview of our program including a brief tour of the facility. The students also will get to talk to current externs.

Context of didactics (seminars, Grand Rounds): Weekly seminars conducted by Psychology Department; The hospital’s Education and Training Department organizes monthly Grand Rounds presentations in conjunction with NYS Child Study Center. Externs attend daily clinical rounds meeting with multi-disciplinary team.
Estimated informal open door "curbside" supervision: This is available frequently, especially when it comes to administration and scoring of assessment battery as well as dealing with patients in crisis situation.
