Provide description of Externship:
This externship requires a commitment of approximately 16 hours/week, time is divided between individual/group/family counseling, attending IEP meetings, medication review, team meetings and assessment. With regard to clinical work, externs will work with a diverse group of coed adolescent's ages 10 to 21 years who have been diagnosed with severe learning disabilities/mild mental retardation and a serious mental illness in an inpatient setting. There will be one face to face supervision hour/week to be scheduled at the convenience of extern and supervisor. Additional supervision available at scheduled meetings with psychiatry and other clinical staff.  Externs are expected to see a minimum of 3-4 individual cases which can change throughout the duration of externship. In addition, externs will at any given time ran a minimum of one group, which will be reflective of both the externs interest and client need. Ample testing opportunities are available.

Intervention and Assessment:
